Cellulite is fat deposits under the skin. It is characterized by a dimpled orange-peel appearance. Cellulite is a normal occurrence resulting from uneven fatty deposits. Fat is arranged in large chambers underneath a fairly thin layer of skin. Columns of collagen fibers separate these chambers. In overweight persons, too much fat is being stuffed into these chambers, causing the pitting and bulging of the skin. In addition, as women age, the collagen fibers shrink and thicken, pulling the skin downward. This results in a quilt-like or orange peel appearance on the skin surface. |

Cellulite has a variety of causes, from poor circulation and lack of oxygen to water retention, lack of exercise, poor lymph drainage, or diet. Hormonal changes also contribute to cellulite for estrogen stimulates storage of fat. Cellulite is mostly a women's problem, due to different body physiques, men tend to have lower percentages of body fat. Men also have thicker skin with smaller fat chambers that are more tightly held together. As many as 95% of all women over age 30; will develop cellulite to some degree.

Diet
Try incorporating the following into your eating habits:
- Eliminate tea other than herbal, coffee and alcohol, drinking only water and fruit juices.
- Increase raw vegetables, to include bean sprouts and raw cabbage, and vitamins C and B
- Eliminate dairy products from cows and eat only free-range chicken, turkey and eggs.
- Eat only wholegrain breads.

- Servings should be approximately as follows:
- Protein-the size of the palm of your hand
- Beans, Nuts-1/2 cup
- Breads-1 slice
- Rice, Pasta-1/2 cup cooked
- Dairy-1 cup mild, 1 cup yogurt, 2 ounces processed cheese, 1 ½ ounces natural cheese
- Juice-3/4 cup
- Fruit-1 medium apple, orange, banana etc.
- Leafy vegetables-1 cup
- Raw or Cooked vegetables-1/2 cup
Limit alcohol, moderation means one 2 oz. glass of wine or 1 oz. of liquor or one 12 oz. beer. Studies have shown that one drink a day may lower cholesterol, but more than one will create other potentially serious health problems.
Rule to thumb when judging servings is to divide your plate into 4 sections.

Exercise
Find an exercise routine that works for you. Areas that you do not exercise gather toxins like stagnant water. In other words, toxins pool in these areas allowing cellulite to build up and stick. Yoga or Tai Chi are wonderful exercise routines for anyone for they have zero impact on the joints and spine.
Stress
Lowering ones stress level is also beneficial. Stress can cause cellulite to stick; relaxation is needed to assist the body in shifting the waste and fat deposits.
